Emagia Strengthens Electronic Invoice Presentment and Payment (EIPP) Functionality With XML-based Web Services

XML Web Services Support Simplifies Interoperability With Disparate Billing and Payment Systems

SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 30, 2002 - Emagia Corporation, the enterprise cash flow management solutions company, today announces its support for XML-based web services in its Collaborative Finance Platform, the engine that powers Emagia's solutions suite. Web services strengthen electronic invoice presentment and payment (EIPP) functionality by simplifying the integration and interoperability with disparate enterprise systems used for billing and payments.

Web services, heralded as the next major agents of change in technology, are software components that provide a simple, flexible, standards-based approach for linking applications together over the Internet. Web services deliver infrastructure-level interoperability, enabling fast and cost-effective integration of internal applications and trading partner systems.

Analysts predict that web services will become the dominant mode of deployment for new application solutions within two years. Web services, promoted by leading industry vendors such as Sun and Microsoft, are based on Extensible Markup Language (XML), and are comprised of open Internet standards such as SOAP, WSDL and UDDI.

Emagia Collaborative Finance Platform, which is an enterprise-class, multi-tier platform based on Java/J2EE, provides collaboration and process automation for cash flow processes. Payments and invoicing are the core of the software, and critical cash flow management transactions often are handled by existing IT infrastructures or extended partner networks.

"Web services can save Emagia customers a significant amount of time and money," said Prabhakar Rao Pathuri, Emagia director of engineering. "It gives them the ability to leverage existing IT infrastructure and to share information and processes across different software and hardware platforms with any customer or supplier. We continually anticipate our customer's rapidly changing needs and deliver solutions that give them the best ROI as well as a competitive edge."

With Web services, Emagia software now can receive invoice information from billing systems and send payment information to payment systems, irrespective of which hardware platform, software technology or networks they are based on. Web services also enable Emagia customers to collaborate on financial transactions with their customers, suppliers and other business partners. Emagia solutions integrate with leading financial systems such as Oracle Applications, SAP, Peoplesoft, J.D. Edwards and others. Emagia solutions also integrate with leading payment systems such as Verisign, Cybersource and others.
