SMART Modular Selects Emagia for Accounts Receivables Management

Emagia Collaborative Finance Suite 2.0 Optimizes Cash Inflow and, Improves Cash Forecasting for Solectron-owned Company

SANTA CLARA, Calif. Oct. 1, 2001 - Emagia Corporation, the cash flow management software company, today announces that SMART Modular Technologies, a wholly-owned company of Solectron Corporation (NYSE: SLR), the world's leading provider of electronics manufacturing and supply-chain management services, has implemented Emagia Collaborative Finance Suite 2.0 to manage its accounts receivables processes. Accelerated cash inflow and improved cash forecasting were the main reasons Collaborative Finance Suite 2.0 was selected.

"We needed a solution that would allow us to get a better handle of our cash flow processes for accurate cash forecasts," said Joanne Leung, controller at SMART. "It was very important for us to procure a leading-edge technology solution that would allow us to build a strong foundation with shared service e-business concepts around cash flow enhancement and working capital management for SMART and all its subsidiaries," said Ajay Birla, CIO of Solectron's Technology Solutions Business Unit (TSBU).

The cash forecasting capabilities of Emagia Collaborative Finance Suite 2.0 give SMART management instant access to cash forecasts at various levels of complexity, based on ideal cash flow, payment history and promises to pay. Emagia Collaborative Finance Suite 2.0 also allows SMART staff, which is spread across three continents, to process customer portfolios and collect money more quickly via web-based collaboration technology.

"We believe next-generation accounts receivables technologies should deliver visibility into and control of cash inflows through accurate forecasting and real-time collaboration in the collections and deductions processes," said Veena Gundavelli, president and CEO of Emagia. "Modern business environments are decentralized, and access to customer financial information from anywhere in the world and collaboration with all parties involved are musts for effective working capital management."

Emagia Collaborative Finance Suite 2.0 integrated smoothly into SMART's existing SAP 4.6 back office system. After a very successful implementation, SMART's employees around the world now manage the company's receivables portfolios and have automated collections and dispute resolution via the Collaborative Finance Suite.

"Emagia's structured implementation methodology and its out-of-the-box EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) Kit for integration with our back-end SAP system kept the implementation very short and within budget," Birla said. "The turnkey implementation was a major advantage for our IT staff, allowing them to focus on other IT initiatives. The scalable architecture, collaborative capabilities and automation of the Collaborative Finance Suite have already been a great benefit to our finance department. It also fills a gap in our IT strategy to provide our customers complete visibility of the entire supply chain, from order to payment history."
